Lightweight and compact, the Multi-Max is a pleasure to handle and hold, and its comfortable design minimizes wrist and hand fatigue, even during intricate, prolonged work. It also accesses tight corners and narrow spaces that conventional saws and sanders simply can't reach.
Sanding Options for Smooth Finishes
Dremel offers accessories for sanding both bare and painted wood, which is an ideal practice for restoring worn surfaces. Each sand paper is available in 60, 120, and 240 grits. The Dremel Multi-Max offers a new category for grinding with an oscillating tool. Thirty-grit diamond sanding paper allows users to remove cement residue from raw flooring quickly and efficiently.
Ideal for a Variety of Woodworking Projects
Ideal for woodworking projects, the Multi-Max cuts with minimal dust buildup to help keep both your line of vision and workspace clear. It's also great for precise edging, shaping, and detail work--whether you're dealing with vintage wooden frames, dollhouse furniture, or kitchen cabinetry.
Great for DIY Projects
Use the Multi-Max to remove sections of drywall, install hardwood flooring, and trim door jambs. There are two grout-removal accessories available in a 1/8-inch size and a 1/16-inch size for wall and floor grout elimination. The Multi-Max even has two different scraping accessories available--the flexible scraper blade for projects such as removing old caulking around the tub or shower and the rigid scraper blade, which is better suited for removing stuck vinyl flooring, carpeting, and carpet padding.
Operation is also consistent, low-noise, and reliable, whether you're cutting through a subfloor or repairing an antique armoire. Simply plug it in and you're ready to go. The Multi-Max comes in a blow-molded case for easy storage and portability, and it also includes a "Getting Started" booklet, as well as a variety of accessories.
About Dremel: A History of Brilliance and Innovation
Founded in 1932 in Racine, Wisconsin, Dremel is the industry leader in rotary tools. The company owes its success to the inventive genius of its founder and namesake, Albert J. Dremel. In his lifetime, Mr. Dremel owned 55 patents on a wide range of products from electric erasers to a gas-powered rotary lawn mower. His most famous and important invention was a high-speed rotary tool dubbed the Dremel Moto-Tool. The Dremel Multi-Max tool is a well built tool but should be used only for those specialized jobs where it is absolutely needed. It is (as are all other brands of this tool) a total "blade hog". I have found that the metal/hardwood blade is dull after cutting only 3 medium size nails.
These blades are outrageously overpriced and one can only hope that the price will come down once more of these tools are sold. I have found that 4 or 5 jobs can cost as much in blades as the tool itself.

I'll be brief. This tool is a piece of crap. As in a previous review I was cutting some rotten pine and the tool after 5 minutes of use got so hot I couldn't hold it. It has no strength, power. or durability. I have no further use for the tool and want to return it, however I received as a Christmas present and now find that I will get a partial return..... my fault for not trying it out sooner. If you think you're getting a bargain you not and you get what you pay for..... this is a toy not a tool.
This doesn't rate the one star I had to give it to make the review.

I had high hopes for this machine. It is a toy. It cuts with great precision and force for a few seconds....until the blade overheats...once the blade is hot it berely cuts...so you have to stop and let the blade cool down...otherwise you ruin the blade.
It is ok for very small cuts on soft wood...and if you try to cut on the most common wood that constructors use (douglas fur) FORGET IT!!!!
Not worth the money

Like many reviewers, I have been disappointed with the performance of this tool.
1) I find that the allen bolt holding the blade comes loose during use even though I tighten it very tightly.
2) It is underpowered and very, very noisy. Takes a very long time to cut anything but plastic. Even trimming up a soft pine 2x4 takes a long time.
3) Even a small wire staple will stop this tool in its tracks. I am frequently finding I need to clip off a nail or screw flush to a surface it is protruding from. This tool will NOT do that.
Only for hobbiests, not for refurb work.
I went and bought a Fein instead. Much happier with the power and the ease of changing blades.

I have recently purchased a Multi Max and found it to be a poor investement. I do a lot of remoulding and found this tool to get very hot with average use. The blades have a tendency to fall out as the design for the blade attachment is poorly done. I do not recomend this tool until Dremel comes up with a better design and gets all the flaws out. It appears they were in a hurry to produce this tool without working out all the problems first.
